What is Hempcrete?
Hempcrete, also known as ‘Hemp Lime’, is a building material made from hemp hurds, the inner woody part of the hemp plant, combined with lime or sand and mixed together. Hempcrete Hub is a directory for hempcrete builders and producers in Australia. Not only that, we explore other passive building methods which are carbon negative and environmentally efficient, like wind sails for cooling.

Hempcrete used for suburban apartments nestled on the foothills of a modern city. Passive construction in modernity.
Hempcrete is carbon-negative
Did you know hempcrete made buildings stay cool in summer and warm in winter? Yes, they’re self insulated. This means when it’s hot outside, it’s cool in a hempcrete adobe and vice versa; when it’s cold outside it’s warm in your hempcete made building. You can save costs on heating and air conditioning, less electricity use, it’s better for the planet and humankind, well, all life.
Hemp hurd blocks are also a carbon sink
Not only does hempcrete or hemplime provide insulation for temperature and acoustics (less noisy between rooms), it’s a carbon sink. Carbon sink means that the hemplime walls and insulation soak up carbon from the atmosphere. This works to counteract global warming. Everything we do that is positive for the Earth is positive for us too.

Discover the Sustainable Power of Hempcrete for Australian Homes and Buildings
Imagine a building material that not only boasts these impressive performance qualities but also breathes naturally, regulates humidity, and actively contributes to a healthier environment. Welcome to Hempcrete Hub, your central resource for exploring the incredible potential of hemplime in Australia. Not only that, we lay the framework for ease of access to passive, bioclimatic, biomimetic and regenerative building methods and materials.
Passive design.
At Hempcrete Hub, we believe in exploring a better future, then building it today.

- Passive: Uses natural forces sustainably like gravi
- Bioclimatic: Tailors ddesign to specific local climate forces; urban planning/design.
- Biomimetic: Copies nature’s blueprints for efficiency: product design/science.
- Regenerative: Improves the environment as a byproduct of use.
Imagine a major city where suburban housing blends with the natural environment.
